The Association

The Italian Group of Forensic Pathology (Gruppo Italiano di Patologia Forense, G.I.P.F.) was established in 1994 through the initiative of several colleagues, primarily Angelo Fiori and Giovanni Pierucci. They shared the idea of giving particular impetus to studies and research in the field of forensic pathology by bringing together and actively collaborating with those who had a significant interest in this area.

The objectives of G.I.P.F. are to promote and enhance morphological and physiopathological studies of medical-legal significance, foster basic and applied research in this field, and, more broadly, ensure an ongoing process of cultural exchange and convergence.

To achieve these goals, G.I.P.F. promotes research topics and programs, sometimes in collaboration with other branches of forensic sciences. It contributes to the development of quality assurance systems and is committed to formulating operational protocols for the adaptation and harmonization of specific investigative procedures and all related aspects concerning medical-legal applications.
